Match Report - 28 Nov 2009, Aldershot and Farnham Hockey Club Mens 2 lost to Yateley 2
Not the greatest performance ever by Aldershot and Farnham 2nd XI as they lost 3-2 to Yateley 2nd XI.
After a lackadaisical first half, Aldershot and Farnham were already 2-0 down. The away side were simply not holding on to the ball long enough to build any momentum. Whilst Yateley were looking very promising on the attack.
Yateley's first goal was the result of sluggish defensive work from the Aldershot back four and the away side were notably disapointed to allow such an easy goal to happen. The second goal of the first half came from a neatly taken short corner with the ball drilled home in the right hand corner of the goal.
After the break, Aldershot showed more encouraging passages of play with Grobler, deSouza and Geoff Smith all linking up nicely with one another. This improvement saw the travellers first goal when Phillip Ellis struck home to give the side such much needed confidence.
However this was short lived as Yateley slotted in their third goal, again some poor defensive work allowed this to happen. So this meant that Aldershot and Farnham had to throw everything at them including the kitchen sink as they tried hard to find more goals.
After a succession of short corners, finally Ian grobler found the back board and the away side could start believing again, but it was too little too late as Yateley were crowned winners.
