Match Report - 10 Oct 2009, Aldershot and Farnham Hockey Club Ladies 4 drew with IBM Nomads
The Fantastic Four’s’
Tensions were running high on Saturday 10th as the Four’s arrived at Portsmouth to play the IBM Nomads. The team were playing with only 8 players and a virgin goalie. We all thought we would have to play at a disadvantage as we had a late drop out (which can’t be helped sometimes) and possibly only one umpire.
Thanks to a little fluttering of eyelashes from Wendy and Emily we gained not one umpire but two. This meant we could use Sharon’s return as a well needed defender.
The 1st half was nail biting as two goals were deflected by the ‘virgin’ goalie and a couple of scuffles round the goal erupted. With some fantastic team effort and skill from Grace, Charlotte and Wendy we scored 3 goals.
2nd half was a little disappointing as the team were a bit pooped by then. The opposition seemed to gain attacking power having gained their 11th player towards the end of the 1st half. Emma, Taz and Sharon’s red faces were the evidence of their hard work. Well done to the midfielders too for getting the ball back up there on more than one occasion in the last half.
We were very grateful to receive sideline support and encouragement from Steve and Nicky although Emma had threatened her Dad with ….? If he was to start shouting at her, which I am sure Emma was grateful that he didn’t. Emily lost a toe nail which impeded her dancing that night and the IBM Nomads gained 3 goals.
I say it for the team when I type.
