First up for Aldershot & Farnham 1st team in the new league season was Trojans 2’s, who finished as runners up last season, missing out on promotion in a play-off.

So, A&F knew it would be a tough game, and as the game started it quickly became apparent, they would really be up against it. Trojans were youthful, quick and very well drilled.

Elvyn Jackson notched a first half hat-trick for Trojans with three short corner drags, two to the left and one to the right.
A&F’s only attempt in the first half was a reverse strike from Archie Smith, returning to the club whilst on a university placement year.

Jackson scored twice more in the second half, once with an open play reverse strike, after pouncing on a defensive mistake and then another short corner drag to the left.

Luke Walter added a sixth for Trojans with the ball taking a big deflection off Phil Rushmere’s boot into the top corner, whilst a James Huggins goal line clearance saved another certain goal.

Ian Metcalfe scored a consolation at the back post after a good move by A&F saw Aaron Buchanan feed a dangerous angled ball across the goalkeeper.

The six-goal margin was restored with a neat deflection by Ollie Trickett from a hard ball into the ‘D.

A&F’s preseason has been encouraging, and they fought tirelessly in this game. They will be disappointed by the number of turnovers they conceded but ultimately Trojans had too much for them.
