Men’s 4s hosted the second Basingstoke side in two weeks in a balmy afternoon at Heath End. We were blessed with 15 players including some from the 3s.
Unfortunately Josh wasn’t feeling well (get better soon Josh) so we were going to play 11 outfield, but were delighted when Holly said, “No problem, I’ll try it”. A quick trip to the clubhouse to get some kit and we were back to a proper formation!
The game started very competitively with several chances for both sides before Archie put us 1-0 up and stunned the oppo. We worked hard to half-time with lots of rotations.
The second half was also very close and Basingstoke scored on 40 minutes. But we took a well worked short and scored a second.
More hard work until the final whistle, slightly marred by my green card for a “mistimed tackle”…not trying to slow the game down honest!
A really well deserved win 2-1. Player of the match was Holly. Fantastic effort. DoD was me for a card.
