Match Report
Thanks to George for captaining and providing this match report.
We turned up to the locked gates and were left wondering if we were in the right place, after a few phone calls etc the gates of doom were opened.
The warm up was quick and the game got under way, us with the bare 11 players ( a special thanks to Sofie for making the team compete and saying yes on Friday night, after a few glasses of wine to soften the question from Toby!! Thanks ? ?) then Chichester with 16.
Their experience shone through with many goals going in the first half. Too many that none of us were sure on how many.
Even though they scored many calculated goals we gave them consistent grief at their end with many short corners and shots at the goal, keeping use of the whole pitch.
A few simple things pointed out at half time getting players into position on the opponents hits changed the game dramatically, making them work harder.
Score in the second half 3-0 much better play with great hockey moves.
Thanks to everyone making the trip and great play from everyone, heads never dropped we fought as best as we could.
Players highlights:
Josh: Brilliant keeping, many saves absolutely fantastic clearance from top of the D?
Toby: Brilliant tackling and clearing.
George: Clearing the ball out of defense.
Simon: Great marking keeping their forward from getting the ball.
Martin: Great runs and creating opportunities
Sophie: Brilliant play after not playing from school, great positioning and nearly scoring. Thanks again.
Lewis: Great control and distribution in midfield.
Archie: Amazing passing and disruption in the midfield.
Theo: Fabulous positioning and runs up the line.
Alfie: Great runs, giving their defence grief.
Harry: Fantastic stick skills giving their defence grief.
All in all their team was filled with experienced players and fresh legs that made it difficult for us. We all played well and take the second half play away with us for breaking down their game from their hits.
Final score 11-0
MOM: Lewis for great control and composure
DOD: Simon for wanting a luxury spa changing room before the game making him a little late for the start. Self nominated!!
