Aldershot & Farnham’s early season struggles continued at a windswept Chapel Gate last Saturday, as two second half goals from Bournemouth 2’s condemned them to a third straight defeat.
A&F competed well in the first half and despite Bournemouth having the territorial advantage, it was A&F that had the best opening with Chris Edwards strike from centre top of the ‘D saved well by the Bournemouth ‘keeper.
Again, a lack of squad availability and numbers for A&F proved costly as Bournemouth, able to rotate players regularly, asserted themselves in the second half. Their first goal occurred on the break after A&F felt hard done by to have been penalised for a supposed infringement high up the pitch.
With ten minutes to go Bournemouth bagged their second with an outrageous deflection that goalkeeper Will Hall, who had a fine game, could do nothing about. Phil Rushmere in the centre of the park and youngster Nathan Stanley at right back were standout performers for A&F.
