Men’s 4s hosted Basingstoke 6s in our second league game after a bruising opener. Shots started well and played good passing hockey with the juniors (Charlie, Theo, Taylor, Tom, Archie and Will in goal) equal to the all adult Basingstoke team. The first half was evenly matched and after conceding a field goal on 15 minutes we recovered well and Archie equalised on 25 minutes. Great goal. After 30 minutes I decided to give myself DoD when it was pointed out that we had been playing for most of the first half with 9 outfield players. Imagine what the score line could have been with an extra player…what a ****.
The second half was equally well fought but we tired towards the end and conceded 3 goals, two of which were goal line tricklers…v. frustrating. Full time 1-4.
Everyone agreed the quality of our play was 300% better than last week, so lots of positives to take away. Taylor's tackling was excellent and Theo took one for the team (rest up Theo).
MoM was Charlie Dews for his 3D skills, 180 degree turns and weaving play, followed by Tom and Frazer for their holding play. Charlie, you certainly had the Basingstoke defenders in knots!
But the best performance was the teas provided by Toby and family…sausage casserole…yum yum! You have set the bar very high Toby! Onwards to next week when we will be hosting the second Basingstoke team in our Div. Come on Shots!
No team photo this week but one of a deer at Petworth House, definately worth a visit to walk around the grounds this autumnal time of year (a bit random I know, will try to get player pics next week, the alternative was my D-Day holiday snaps!).
A big thank you also to Gibbo and Chis for blowing and keeping both teams in order. Go Shots.
